The village of Brebu Nou (Weidenthal) in the Semenic Mountains, which only a few decades ago had a large population, has long been a ghost town. Together with several other villages, Weidenthal was settled two centuries ago with colonists from the Austrian Empire. The inhabitants, German peasants and craftsmen, came from the Bohemian Forest and were called "pemi" (Deutschböhmen). Since the 1980s, Nicolae Ceausescu opened the way for the repatriation of Germans from Romania in exchange for hard currency. After 1989 the small population of 'pemi' disappeared altogether. The film is a dramatic document of this departure.
