A slice of central-European history; fifty infernal years, with dreams that burst out and fade out again and again, breaking ups, clashes, risings and haemorrhages. A destiny which is transmitted from a generation to another, through a particular feminine branch, the same as in Greek tragedies. In GARDENIA I noticed the admirable discretion and delicacy of director Koltai M. Gábor whose handwrting is in the details, in the conduct of the intrigues, without unnecessary artifice or "innovations". The minimalist set design by Iuliana Vîlsan – module elements, with mesh wire closed spaces, scattered dolls, as if in search of a happy childhood, and small covered parallelepipeds, like a toy town, a toy life, where mistakes can playfully be fixed – was enriched by this show's cast with great beauty and delicate emotion."(Claudiu Groza)
