A production of Zooscope Lausanne Switzerland
Performance in German with translation into English.
Dramaturgy: Delphine Abrecht & Camille LuscherOne dancer, one actor and one retro overhead-projector – these are the protagonists who are in search of the laws of interaction. With irony and lots of spirit, the two performers shed light on the crux of human relationships: how and why do we connect with one another, although everybody considers himself to be the centre of the universe? Adrien Rupp and Katy Hernan look for patterns in the vast field of communication – under universal, physical, sociological as well as theatrical aspects. The observation that the conditions and limitations of interaction of course also have to do with language is introduced in a charming way when the two performers start talking to the audience in a foreign language. And that is exactly where theatre, the art which cannot work without some sort of audience, steps in. Why do people step into the limelight in order to communicate? The story of the giraffe gives us the answer – through a close encounter of the absurd kind!
"Theatre about theatre or about how to create a show. The two actors and directors start from scientific pseudo-theories to make the audience think about what theatre means, what the spectator is looking for there, what the theatrical act means, what classical dramaturgy offers, about the elements that constitute a stage. Unexpected."
