and Her surrender, without wanting it, to the power of the DJ who
influences their entire lives through his music. You trace the evolution
of their relationship by the reference to the feelings, states and
reactions that the sounds create in them. Controlled by the DJ, this
master of ceremony in his constant metamorphosis – feral, buffoonish,
diabolical – the music makes them puppets that can no longer control
their impulses. Will the music stop? Without it, they feel
vulnerable…This evening discovers – little by little – all masks that
are forced upon you by society, all guilty pleasures, prejudice and
fears until everything that remains it…Him and Her. ZIC ZAC is a
performance that – literally and figuratively – transpires explosive
energy, sexuality, sense of humour and sensibility, one that teaches us
that a book doesn't make a summer, that Romanians tend to trip over
their own tongues and that we fear the fear. So, ladies and gentlemen,
please dance!
"ZIC ZAC was the star performance of the 2013 graduate gala of the Master Programme in Choreography of the National Theatre and Film University. [...] In the dim performance landscape (theatre and dance) of the capital the show by Andrea Gavriliu feels like a mouthful of fresh air. Maybe this is due to the visibile joy of dancing, maybe the choreografic theatrality full of humour or the drive in finding a new path through the eternal relation of Him and Her, using the same universal structures (attraction, growing closer, erotic, conflicts, fears, growing apart, growing closer again...), one thing is for sure: that the energy and enthusiasm of ZIC ZAC are contagious."(Oana Stoica)
