Chronicle
by Carmen Tărniceru
Traces is a vigorous struggle between nature and
man. It is a dance that defies gravity, the known laws of speed and the human
anatomy of dancers. With a sometimes captivating frenzy, the show reaches such
wild, ferocious peaks that they give the impression to be transpositions of the
most powerful narrative elements in the Lord
of the Flies, of the brutality of losing contact with society. The
characters seem to be cruel children caught up in their chaotic and violent
rituals, who have never been “saved” by anybody. Somehow upside down here,
because the incriminated part is the very civilization that has won the war of
conquest in front of nature.
In an irregular zigzag, the characters
turn into barbarians, have tumultuous and rushed movements, they jostle, they
scramble, they throw themselves into a broken delicacy. Or they play tender
classical dance gestures that make you think of the inner rustle of the
natural, original sensibilities. The conflict of dissociation is present
throughout the entire show, with excessively figurative and impeccably
performed alternations of scenes, with a repetitive and clear message. Towards
a devastating finale.
