Chronicle by Raoul Horn
As you enter the hall
of the German State Theatre and look towards the diagonal, you will see a
fragile silhouette, concentrated at every step she takes, coming from the garden; it advances towards a sofa on
the left side of the stage. By the time you sit down in the hall, the
silhouette reaches the middle of the stage, as if floating, and when you have
already settled comfortably and put your phone on silent (or turned it off),
the silhouette arrives and carefully sits on the edge of the vintage sofa and slowly
relaxes. She is dressed like a valet, and as soon as she speaks the first
words, you realize that it is Firs who is speaking. Firs? Yes, Firs. From The Cherry Orchard. Firs was left alone.
It's the end of the rehearsal.
Das Theater is – in a
way - a continuation of The Cherry
Orchard – another fresh show of the German Theatre ensemble. The director
Pascal Rambert wove several life stories of the actors, took over the structure
of Chekhov's play and tried to fit it
into the pattern of his dramaturgy, of course, running some changes. The actors
come to the stage in turn, entering what seems to be a familiar house – the
stage. Sofia's birthday (celebrated in the theatre) can correspond to the
soirée in Act III of the Cherry Orchard,
in which all the characters get to be together.
